London: J. Dodsley, 1769 Full-Leather. 7th Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. The author was famous for his translations of Pliny and Cicero, but it was this book that first attracted attention. Boswell quotes Dr. Johnson's rather negative view of him (III, 422-424) and Thomas DeQuincey also notes his distdain of Melmoth in his Pocket Book of a Late Opium Eater. A very good copy of the work in full leather with a red mor occo label.
