Amsterdam. 1699 (& 1696!), 2 vols, 61/4 x 4". Ptd by Pierre Brunel. Exquisite copperplt line engravings that depict in great detail late 17th C. Western European dress. The plts are probably the work of Romain de Hooge (born c.1638 in the Hague) as indicated by a late 19th C. cat. label glued to the inside front cvr of Vol. 1 which indicates that the same work ptd in Amsterdam in 1732 contained plts engraved by de Hooge. Recent 1/2 cl. & earlier marbled bds. One leaf of Vol. I missing fee margin & torn beneath illus. One other leaf w/a 11/2" tear. Vol. II incls four full-p. illus. while the balance as in Vol. I are 12/ p. Because of positioning non uniformity, a few engravings are closely shaved on free margin. One plt is inverted.
