Includes a “List of ships which have touched Pitcairn since 1808”, and a list of the inhabitants of Pitcairn. Hill notes that two re-impressions, the second and third editions, appeared in the same year as the first. Despite this, copies of all three are uncommon in collectible condition. Bromley-Davenport W. Sport
London: Chapman and Hall. 1885 8vo, 1/4 leather over marble paper boards, gilt titles. Some foxing, but a nice copy. First edition of this classic, covering fox-hunting, covert-shooting, salmon fishing and deer-stalking. The salmon chapter takes place in Norway and is an early description (apart from Tolfrey) of sport there. Interesting illustraions by Lt. Gen. H. H. Crealocke (who wrote several fine works himself.) Laid into the front of this copy is a long poem on the chase written by Bromley-Davenport and published in The Field, Dec. 7, 1895.

Light spotting to cloth on edges of cover, nevertheless, a fine tight copy. First edition. Famous as the greatest mystery ship of all time, the Mary Celeste has aroused the interest of the world for many years. A brigantine under American registry, captained by one Benjamin Briggs of Marion, Mass., was found abandoned 300 miles of the coast of Portugal in 1872. Newspapers claimed there was nothing to furnish any hint or clue as to why she was in such a state, thus creating the legend and mystery of the vessel.
