In telling a chronological story of Morgan's life, the author (whose real name is supposedly Louis C. Fraina) presents a mass of facts (carefully citing references), with clarity, logic and emphasis. He draws a forceful picture of Morgan and the changes in American business at the time, but the book does not stand the test of careful examination of its workmanship. Its conception is Marxian - Morgan is represented as the highest in capitalistic exploitation as to personality, character, methods of operation, and control. The system which he helped to build is presented as illustrating high concentration in the Marxian sense. Unscholarly workmanship makes one doubt the whole book. This exhibit in 1929 included: "Examples of Lustre Ware, Lowestoft, and Toile de Jouy used in America during these periods. Portraits by Stuart, Peale and Others". This was a benefit exhibition at the American Art Galleries in New York City from September 25th to October 9th 1929. It is this exhibit that preciptated a collecting awareness for these periods. CONDITION NOTE - This is a nice clean and tight copy BUT this copy exhibits some mottling to the cloth. This copy comes from a Florida home, and this mottling can occur in that climate. Internally a "like-new" copy. very good, light blue cloth (hardcover) NOTE CLOTH IS MOTTLED
