Nathaniel Claiborne, brother of the first Louisiana Governor William Claiborne, published this book from records during the course of the war, the work is almost wholly devoted to the contests with the Indians, especially the Creek Indians and Jackson's 1814 campaign against the Creeks. The author was also a member of the Virginia Executive Council during the war, and later served as a Virginia Representative and Senator.
