Ottaviano Scotto was the founder of one of the earliest large scale publishing houses in Italy and one of the first Italians to issue liturgical books. With his death in 1498, the business then passed on to his heirs. The business became so successful that Scotto's regular printer joined as partner and soon employed some of the most upcoming and renoun printers in Venice.
