Richard Eastcott (1740?-1828): "English clergyman, musical historian and composer. He was the author of 'Sketches of the Origin, Progress and Effects of Music, with an Account of the Ancient Bards and Minstrels', a well-executed compilation published at Bath in 1793, which was so favorably received as to call forth a second edition in the same year. He also published six pianoforte sonatas and some songs. At the time of his death he was chaplain of Livery Dale. He was the early patron of John Davy" (Groves).
