His depiction of the Tahitian is unequalled by all but Gaughin. Published posthunously. The Author, a Rugby alumnus, was in Tahiti in 1906 and was killed at Gallipoli. A. Grove Day, No. 78: “none is more frank and uniquely personal [an account].”
