Fry, before the Committee on Divorces of the House of Representatives of the State of Pennsylvania." Also bound in is "In the Legislature of Pennsylvania. Emilie L. Fry vs. Horace B. Fry: Petition, Answer and All Other Papers in the Matter of the Application for a Divorce." Pagination being: 1-7, 9-24, 40, 64, quarter leather spine, boards and endpapers detached, spine, corners of boards, and edges of boards worn, scuffed, text is good, manuscript table of contents on front end paper. The material included all deals with the famous divorce case which involved Emile L. [Grigg] Fry, the daughter of wealthy Philadelphia publisher John Grigg and her husband Horace B. Fry, also of Philadelphia. Grigg was living at that time in the Victorian brownstone neighborhood of Rittenhouse Square. They were eventually granted a divorce. Horace B. Fry was the brother of William Henry Fry, the music composer/writer, and the son of the publisher of the National Gazette.
