He was awarded the Nobel prize in Economics (1998) for his "contributions to welfare economics". The current student's paper deals with the well-ordered society. The author uses both Kant and Rousseau to argue that citizens in the well-ordered society are characterized by the pursuit of an individually determined idea of "good". Dr. Sen's long term interest in social welfare and economic inequality fit well with a paper discussing the concept of "the good" in a well-ordered society.
