Robson, Joseph An Account of Six Years Residence in Hudson's-Bay, From 1733 to 1736, and1744 to 1747
London: Printed for J. Payne and J.Bouguet, 1752 Robson was Surveyor and Supervisor of Buildings tothe Hudson's Bay Company. In this position he was able to develop an intimate knowledge of the locality and personnel of the Company. He condemned its failure to promote fishing and mining enterprise, or to explore and settle the interior portions of the area under its control. The Appendix is a short history of the discovery of Hudson Bay and an estimate of the expense of building the Prince of Wales Fort, and was based upon the unpublished journel of Groseilliers' expedition to the Bay in 1668-69 First Edition. 8vo. 2 (of 3) folding plates (both TPL and Lande call for two plates), lacking "Draught of Nelson & Hayes's Rivers". Contemporary calf, red leather title label; some foxing, head and foot of spine chipped. Otherwise Very Good. Inscription on f.f.e.p. "Mr. Northfield Cotton Esq., Claremont, 1835. Presented to him by his father Samuel Cotton the minister of Claremont. May he receive great instruction from this." Rear free endpaper bears the inscription: "Nathaniel Cotton's Book, Claremont.".
