Bristol, may 16, 1851 The Bulwer Lytton play was first performed at Devonshire House on May 16, 1851 by members of the Guild of Literature & Art, before an audience which included the Queen and the Prince Consort. Dickens acted in the caharacter of Lord Wilmot. Our broadside is for a later performance and includes the announcement of the presentation of an original farce by Charles Dickens. Dickens played a multitude of roles in this farce (Mr. Nightingale's Diary), as well as directing both plays. Among the cast of players may be numbered the following Dickens close friends and associates - John Forster, Douglas Jerrold, Charles Knight, Wilkie Collins, John Tenniel and Augustus Egg (DICKENS, CHARLES) 9-1/2 x 14 inches. . Framed. Minor waterstaining to lower right margin. A fine example of rare Dickens ephemera
