With its encyclopedic scope and the vast variety of subjects, ranging from bee- keeping to the distillation of eaux-de vie, from rural architecture to the cultvation of pheasants, there is much here for the sportsman: Book II of the Fourth Part is entirely devoted to 'La Chasse et autres amusemens champêtres', with chapters on shooting, hunting various prey with dogs and horses, including sections on breeding, a full section on falconry (with some fine woodcuts), and a final extensive 'Dictionnaire de Vénérie & de Fauconnerie' -- the whole illustrated with fine engraved plates and even more charming woodcuts Ninth Edition. 2 vols., Thick 4to. 33 copper-engraved plates and numerous woodcuts throughout the text.
