Tiburon, CA 1972 Archive of 45 letters and postcards, many typed and signed, others holograph, mostly between the American novelist and Pulitzer Prize winner (Advise and Consent) and his friends and colleagues, editor Herbert Mayes and his wife Grace, on artistic and business topics, as well as day-to-day news between friends. Most signed "Al," one "Allen," and one full signature. Various sizes, on personal notepaper, typing paper, and picture postcards, some envelopes included (generally good condition, with many holograph corrections to typed letters). Mostly from Tiburon, California, and other US locations. 1968 through 1976. unbound very good From a Jan. 27, 1976 letter re: Advise and Consent: "...when it comes right down to it, my feeling is that it's my baby and I have to be responsible for it all the way--it's the only way to maintain my integrity about my own work--which is corny and pretentious, no doubt, but I hope you'll understand..."
