Dated My (sic)1/76, approx. 80 words. 18 x 11.5 cms, folded, with blind stamped crest of Kew Gardens. He writes to "My Dear Sir", stating that he feels it would not be desirable to include a list of Thareburg's Rubarrii (sp?) in any republication of his works & that he is presently abroad for a change, having been overworked of late. Very nice condition. Hooker was only 22 yrs. old when he sailed on the Erebus with James Clark Ross to the Antarctic. He was the author of "Botany of the Antarctic Voyage of the ships Erebus and Terror". He went on to become one of the 19th century's most famous scientists, appointed director of Kew Gardens in 1865.
