Gersdorff performed nearly 200 amputations. He opposed Pare's abandonment of boiling oil for the cauterization of wounds. Illustrations include early surgical procedures and the first printed picture of an amputation. This special edition was produced at the Agathon Press, West Germany. Other than spine fade, a near fine copy in original slipcase. Facsimile edition.
