(8), xxviii, (8), 104pp. Six copperplates, engraved title page vignette, several woodcut initials and head-and tailpieces in text. 4to. First written by Nesbitt (1700-1761) in English in 1736. "Nesbitt pointed out that bones may develop in membrane as well as cartilage, an observation which was ingnored until the 19th century. He left an outstanding description of bone growth."--Garrison-Morton 395.1, citing the London, 1736 first edition. --Blake, p 321. Wellcome, IV, p222 cites only the English first edition. Joints started; most of spine perished; corners rubbed. One-inch square hole in front blank; scattered light foxing, mostly marginal; occasional early marginalia and underlining. With the ownership signature of Donum Altomi, 1 Mai 1835 on title page, not affecting the text. A good copy.
